We’ve officially entered the “in the hunt” portion of the Steelers season, after another disappointing loss, this one in Chicago on Sunday.
And, this was a Bears team with a bunch of injuries on defense. Even with Mason Rudolph starting for Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers should’ve been able to score more than 21 points.
With the loss, a prediction made months ago by Donny Football came to fruition, the Ravens have passed the Steelers in the AFC North standings (holding the division tie-breaker).
And, that tie-breaker is because the Steelers couldn’t beat Joe Flacco and the Bengals on Thursday night.
The Steelers need to go 4-2 to get to 10 wins and something that you can almost set your watch to every season over the last half decade or more is coming true.
Another non-losing season where the Steelers squeak into the playoffs or miss them entirely.
Bettors have Baltimore as a large favorite to come away with the AFC North division.
Fan Morning Show co-host Dorin Dickerson is giving the Steelers a 20 percent chance to make the playoffs.
Weeks ago, the Steelers were 4-1 and the Ravens were 1-5. Even during that time, Vegas still believed the Ravens would win the division.
The Steelers could surprise and go on a tear over the next six games, but recent history has shown how it’s going to end… 9-8 or 10-7 and another 1st-round draft pick between 18 and 20.
The tired old clichés are just that, clichés, but they remain true. The Standard is the Standard and that standard is mediocrity.
The Steelers, scared to make a change, will continue to give us hope with big offseason signings and moves and will do just enough to keep us interested until falling off.
It’s almost time to “unleash hell in December”.
But for Steelers fans we aren’t in Steelers hell, we’re in Steelers purgatory.
