Steelers signed 10 players to free agent contracts after the draft

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The draft over, the Steelers signed 10 to rookie free agent contracts including a player from Beaver Falls and Bethel Park.

Jake Dixon-OT-Duquesne (6'6", 290 pounds)


A Bethel Park grad and converted tight end, Dixon was All-NEC First Team, a Second Team All-American starting 10 games at left tackle in 2021.  He appeared in a school-record 50 career games for the Dukes.  He had scholarship offers to play volleyball at Penn State and Stanford out of high school, but chose football.

Donovan Jeter-DL-Michigan (6'3", 325 pounds)

A four-year letterman along the defensive line with 24 tackles including two tackles for loss last season.  Jeter led the Tigers to the 3A State title in 2016 and was an All-State basketball player.

Mataeo Durant-RB-Duke (6'1", 195 pounds)

First Team All-ACC eclipsing the program's single-season rushing yards mark with 1,241 yards and nine rushing touchdowns in 2021.  He was second in the ACC in rushing yards per game and fifth in all-purpose yards.  He was also All-State in basketball and track in high school.

Tyree Johnson-DL-Texas A&M (6'4", 240 pounds)

All-SEC Second Team had 8.5 sacks and nine tackles for loss, two of the sacks against Alabama earning him SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors.  Finished his college career with 100 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss and 18 sacks for 119 yards, also forcing three fumbles.

TD Moultry-Edge-Auburn (6'2", 253 pounds)

Played an Auburn record 59 games, in his first college game had three tackles for loss against Akron.  Known as a high-motor linebacker who also played basketball in high school.

Chris Owens-OL-Alabama (6'3", 305 pounds)

Started 20 games in his career, mostly at right tackle but has started games at center and also played guard.  He was ranked the number 10 guard nationally out of high school.

Chris Steele-cornerback-USC (6'1", 190 pounds)

Started all three years of college finishing with 95 tackles (3 TFL and a sack), 12 deflections, three interceptions, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.  Twice named All-Pac 12, was one of the top recruits in the nation out of high school.

Jordan Tucker-OL-North Carolina (6'6", 340 pounds)

Played in 45 games in college starting at left tackle and moving to right.  Part of an offense that put up the 10th most yards in Division 1 in 2021.

Jaylen Warren-RB-Oklahoma State (5'8", 204 pounds)

Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year after 1,216 rushing yards.  Transferred from Utah State and before that National JUCO Offensive Player of the Year.  First player in Utah high school football history to break 3,000 career yards.

Bryce Watts-DB-UMass (6', 180 pounds)

Had 43 tackles on the season, six solo tackles against Pitt with one interception and four pass breakups.  Also played at North Carolina and Virginia Tech, appeared in 25 games with the Hokies.
