Zeise says Najee requested Steelers decline his 5th-year option

The Steelers did not exercise their fifth-year option for running back Najee Harris.

That means after the 2024 season Harris will be able to explore free agency.

According to 93.7 The Fan’s Paul Zeise, the decision not to pick up the 5th year may have come from Najee himself.

“Little birdie said Najee Harris actually asked for the Steelers to decline his fifth-year option because he would like to go play somewhere else,” Zeise said on The Joe Show.

The person that gave Zeise that tidbit is the same person that told him the Steelers were going to acquire quarterback Justin Fields in a trade.

In reality, it’s a near guarantee that Harris will never say that yes, he asked for his option to be declined.

Listen below as The Fan Morning Show discuss is it yet another player that apparently doesn’t want to play for Mike Tomlin?

Or, is it purely a money issue, having to share time with Jaylen Warren or maybe he wants to player closer to home on the west coast.
