Investigators believe the victim, 41-year-old Arturo Quevedo of Santa Ana, was struck by a total of three vehicles. Only the driver of the third car stopped and called for help.

Conditions in Orange County on Friday morning were foggy, and Quevedo was reportedly crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk. Investigators believe the two drivers who left the scene were driving a Hyundai and a Mercedes Benz, based on debris left behind.

It is not known whether the suspects knew they hit Quevedo, or if low visibility contributed to the crashes. The driver who stopped and called police said they did not initially realize their car had struck the man, and only discovered the injured party after returning to the scene a few minutes later.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department at (714) 245-8400.
