“Bachelor” Nation is welcoming a fresh face.
The long running ABC series, which includes “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” will be adding “The Golden Bachelor” to its roster in the near future, and the show will star 71-year-old father of two, Gerry Turner.
“The Golden Bachelor” is a spinoff to the iconic reality dating show “The Bachelor,” which premiered in 2002. The new series will focus on older people looking for love in their golden years.
Turner will hope to find the one out of a cast of women described by ABC as having "a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities."
“Golden Bachelor” star Turner is a retired restaurateur from Indiana who fills his time with barbecuing, playing pickleball, rooting for his favorite Chicago sports teams, and spending time with his friends and family, according to ABC.
The single man is also a grandfather and as he was introduced on “Good Morning America,” it was revealed he was married once before to his high school sweetheart. They were together for over 40 years until her passing in 2017.
"I was having a hard time figuring out if she would be OK [with me doing the show]," Turner said. "But we always told each other, when one of us goes, we want the other one to be happy. She's up there rooting."
“It’s never too late to fall in love again,” he added.
“The Golden Bachelor” will air this fall on ABC.
