'Twas the night before, the night before, the night before, the night before Christmas (Dec. 21) and all throughout Florida, caramel was recalled at Aldi stores.
According to an announcement from Astor Chocolate Corporation of Lakewood, N.J., published by the Food and Drug Administration, the company is recalling 1,092 Burnt Caramel Candy Bars. It said the recall was announced due to undeclared coconut in the bars.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to coconut run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” said the recall notice.
While Astor Chocolate Corporation is located in New Jersey, the caramel bars were distributed in Florida through Aldi’s Haines City Distribution Center.
Impacted products have a Lot number of 0101614649 and a best buy date of 12/11/2024. Just one specific lot code is covered by the recall.
“The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the coconut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of coconut,” said the notice.
