Our KNX Hero of the Week, Mike Enriquez, is driving inclusivity and community with drums!

Mike is the founder of the SoCal Drum Party. He and his team are bringing the joy of drumming to people all across the region!
“We're a diverse team of drum circle facilitators and musicians and music therapists,” Mike told Heroes host Heather Jordan.
From toddlers to seniors, people with special needs, and teams looking for team-building experiences!

“We're all about giving the power to the people, and our goal is to help a group of people make music together, just using their natural instincts,” he said.
Mike, a skilled musician by trade and a music educator, leads each drum circle with sensitivity, friendliness, and a bit of humor.
“It's a magical moment for everyone involved,” he said. “We're also very proud of a lot of the work we do with the blind and visually impaired community. We go up to Wrightwood every summer to jam at the summer camp for blind and visually impaired adults, and that's like the most magical moment of the year, just being up in the mountains with the fresh air, jamming with such awesome groups up there. We really just want to set the stage and make the right atmosphere for people to feel comfortable to express themselves musically.”

This past summer, Mike and his team did over 60 programs at summer camps for kids, adults, and seniors.

“Basically, every day we had at least one team going out somewhere in the summer and overall this year we've done 250 different events,” he said.
