Dodgers pitcher Edwin Díaz and two of horse racing’s top jockeys have been linked to alleged cockfighting in Puerto Rico.
Social media posts promoted tournaments featuring Díaz in his Dodgers uniform, as well as. Jose and Irad Ortiz, according to USA Today.
A Puerto Rican news story also quotes Díaz saying cockfighting has been part of his life since childhood. It’s been banned under federal law in Puerto Rico since 2019, even though the island later passed its own law allowing some events.
Kentucky racing regulators looked into the Ortiz brothers and say they won’t take action. No word yet from the Dodgers.
