SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – The Golden Gate Bridge has been "singing in the rain."

Although not a harmonious melody, the legendary bridge connecting San Francisco to the North Bay produced an eerie song Tuesday morning.

The Golden Gate began making noise two years ago after some upgrades were made to the railing. When the wind blows at a certain speed and in the right direction, the bridge turns into a big international tuning fork.

When you step out from the tower, you can suddenly feel the full force of the storm. The force manifests as a whistle, perhaps beckoning visitors to brave the tumult of an atmospheric river for an enshrouded glance at an icon.

One visitor told KCBS Radio he couldn't wish for better weather. "I love it, the different fog. I read the article about the foggy because it's beautiful, a different view you know. It's not supposed to be sunny all of the time," he said.

"It gives you a little eerie feeling, you know," another traveler said. "I love it."

A plan is in the works to fix the whistle, but in the meantime if you're looking for resonance, come to the Golden Gate Bridge.
