The 5th Circuit US Court of Appeals says a group of Southwest Airlines passengers cannot make a class action suit out of a $5.60 fee on airline tickets. The fee is to cover TSA costs.

The dispute started when a group of passengers canceled their non-refundable flights. They had no problem with Southwest giving them vouchers for the flight, but when Southwest included that $5.60 in the voucher....that got under the skin of the passengers. They wanted cash and tried to file a class action suit.
But the 5th Circuit says a federal judge was correct, Southwest is protected against this kind of suit by the Airline Deregulation Act.
As for the fee itself, that's one everyone has to pay every time they book a flight. It doesn't mean you are going to get cash back if you cancel your flight.
