ATLANTA, Ga. (KNX) – Herschel Walker, the former NFL running back running for Senate in Georgia, is denying a report in which a former girlfriend claimed Walker paid for her abortion in 2009.
The report, published by The Daily Beast, spoke with the woman who provided “a $575 receipt from the abortion clinic, a ‘get well’ card from Walker, and a bank deposit receipt that included an image of a signed $700 personal check from Walker.”
The woman, who has not been publicly identified, said Walker “urged” her to get an abortion because it was “not the right time for him to have a child.” The outlet also noted they spoke with a close friend of the woman to verify details of the story.
Walker, who voiced support for abortion bans with no exceptions, denied the allegations made against him.
“This is another repugnant hatchet job from a democrat activist who has obsessively attacked my family and tried to tear me down since this race started,” he said in a statement shared on Twitter.
Walker also said he plans to sue The Daily Beast.
In an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Walker was asked about the check and the card.
"I send out so many get well — I send out so much of anything,” Walker said, adding he also sends money to a lot of people. “But I can tell you right now, I never asked anyone to get an abortion. I never paid for an abortion, and it's a lie. And I'm going to continue to fight."
Christian Walker, Walker’s son with ex-wife Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, posted a series of tweets in which he called his father a liar.
“I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us,” he tweeted. “ You’re not a ‘ family man’ when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence.”
Christian also posted a video on Twitter, criticizing his father.
“Family values people? He has four kids with four different women, wasn’t in the house raising one of them,” Walker said in the video.
“He was out of having sex with other women. Do you care about family values?”
Herschel Walker did not directly respond to his son’s comments, but did tweet, “I LOVE my son no matter what.”
