Nov. 12 marked the first day of Disney’s holiday return - it’s first since 2019, due to a year-long closure from 2020 to 2021. Celebrations will continue through Jan. 9, 2022, with fun foods, decorations and festivities for Disney fans of all ages.

“Beloved family holiday traditions and diverse cultural festivities return, and there are plenty of exciting new elements to enjoy, too!” Disneyland Reports Public Relations Director Kelsey Lynch said in a statement.

Before the fun begins, the first thing you’ll notice is the 60-foot-tall Christmas tree on Main Street — covered bottom to top in nearly 1,800 ornaments. Beyond that, Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle is now decorated in icicles and holiday wreaths.

Perhaps most notable, is the return of the annual Christmas parade.

“We’re thrilled to be able to welcome back our first parade for all guests since reopening as ‘A Christmas Fantasy’ Parade steps onto the parade route once again!” Lynch said.

“This merry musical celebration is filled with beloved Disney characters, prancing reindeer, marching toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies, Anna, Elsa and Olaf from “Frozen,” [and] Santa Claus waving from his sleigh.”

A holiday fireworks show titled “Believe...In Holiday Magic” will also dazzle guests each night.

Disney California Adventure Park: Disney’s Festival of Holidays returns to California Adventure this year - meaning you’ll get to sample an array of tasty treats from diverse seasons of celebrations - including Christmas/Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day.

Lynch said the park has also added live entertainment and experiences involving it’s new “Encanto!” film - set to premiere on Nov. 24, 2021.

Highlights of Disney’s Festival of Holidays include the Mariachi Divas, the Mostly Kosher band, the Festival Foods Marketplace (featuring beef wellington, churro toffee lattes and beef pot roast...yum!), and of course, Santa’s Holiday Visit.

Merriest Nights: The all new after-hours “Merriest Nights” involve six themed holiday parties hosted by Mickey and friends in November and December. Tickets have sold out, but if you’re one of the lucky ones going click here to read up on how to celebrate.
