How to Celebrate Passover While Social Distancing

There are an abundance of video chatting apps that make hosting a virtual seder possible. Using popular platforms like Skype or Zoom, you can bridge connections with people you're not able to celebrate with in person this year.

If you don't have easy access to traditional Passover foods, allow yourself substitution's where you need them given the unprecedented circumstances of this year's pandemic. The Rabbinical Assembly offers guidance on possible substitutions: "Ideally, there would be a seder plate at each location, but at the very minimum, every participating location should have access to wine or grape juice, three matzohs, karpas (any green vegetable), maror (any bitter vegetable, such as horseradish, endive, other bitter greens) and salt water."

You may want to consider ordering a Passover meal online if you don't have access to the ingredients you need. Check to see what restaurants are open amid stay-at-home orders in your city to make sure you have the holiday dinner covered.

While working around social distancing can be stressful, know that you will still have a unique Passover to remember, and this year's celebration will give you a memorable experience to reflect on for years to come. After all, those holiday planning jitters are normal, no matter how prepared you are.
