Hyundai is recalling more than 226,000 vehicles in the U.S. because their rearview camera systems may not work properly.
According to documents posted by U.S. safety regulators on Wednesday, a printed circuit board could develop cracks over time and eventually fail in certain 2021 and 2022 Hyundai Elantra and Sante Fe vehicles.
"If that happens, drivers won't be able to see the images from the backup camera, and that can increase the risk of a crash," WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert said.
There are no reports of any injuries or crashes directly related to this problem, Gilbert said, and Hyundai is currently working on a fix that should be in place next month.
Vehicle owners will be notified by mail starting Jan. 19, and dealers will replace the cameras for free.
Owners can get more details about the recall at this link.
