NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Like millions of other Roman Catholic Americans, President Joe Biden is observing Lent, which began today, Ash Wednesday.

But what is the president ditching for this 40-day period of prayer, penance, sacrifice and good works?

Well, it may come as no surprise that when Biden was asked just that by a reporter Wednesday as he boarded Marine One at the White House, he said, "All sweets."

Biden continued, "And I'm -- you know me, I start off with dessert."

And when the reporter asked Biden, who is a notorious ice cream-lover, "So, no ice cream?" the president responded, "No ice cream. Nothing."

Biden, who was heading to Wisconsin, also said, "I was with the Cardinal this morning. He came over to give me ashes. We both prayed for that -- for the people of Ukraine."
