LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A winter storm that pummeled Southern California Tuesday dislodged a rock slide that rap legend Flavor Flav said nearly killed him.
The former reality TV star narrowly escaped death Tuesday when a massive boulder struck his car.

A rep for Flavor Flav told TMZ the rapper was traveling in the La Tuna Canyon area coming from Las Vegas when the rain caused a boulder to fall down a cliffside and smashed the right side of Flav’s vehicle.
The bolder crashing into his vehicle caused Flav to briefly lose control of his vehicle, but he was able to gain control and get to the side of the road safely, according to TMZ.
Flavor Flav shared photos of the damage with the news site, convinced that if he had just been a few feet in another direction, the boulder could have killed him. He said he “came very close to death but is super grateful to be alive.”
Flavor Flav did not say if he suffered any serious injuries but was clearly shaken up by the crash.
While the Los Angeles Fire Department said there were no reports of rock slides in L.A., emergency responders were scattered about the city today in response to several calls about vehicles in the L.A. River—from Sylmar to downtown L.A.—as a result of Tuesday’s record-breaking rainfall.
By Tuesday afternoon, downtown L.A. had already received up to 2.1 inches of rain in some parts, breaking the previous record for Dec. 14, which was 0.96 inches set in 1888, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS advised people to expect off and on again rainfall through the day, including heavy rain at times. Hazardous weather advisories last through Tuesday night, with a high surf advisory in place until Wednesday afternoon.
