An air and ground attack launched by Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters on an approximately half-acre brush fire Tuesday was successful, extinguishing the flames in difficult terrain on a hillside in Encino.

Fire crews responded at 1:53 a.m. to 18349 Mulholland Drive, where they encountered the slow burning, heavy brush fire. Using hose lines to fully surrounding the burn area, they were able to gain control of the fire, said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
