PASADENA, Calif. (KNX) — The Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce, known as the Jaycees, have been collecting donations to support a refugee center operated by its Ukrainian counterpart.
JCI Ukraine’s refugee center will provide food, support, transportation, and job opportunities to those affected by the Russian invasion. The center is also looking to expand services to include a shower, washing machine, and beds.
Both the Jaycees and JCI Ukraine are part of Junior Chamber International — an organization made up of young professionals aged 20 to 40 looking to network and give back to their communities.
“There’s no time for stress or fear, only time for help,” JCI Ukraine’s president said through Pasadena community director, Jillian Furiga.
“The primary thing they need right now is [monetary] donations, because it would take too long for physical items to get over to them,” Furiga told KNX.
In the next two weeks, the Pasadena Jaycees hope to raise up to $5,000 to outfit “temporary hostels” operated by JCI Ukraine to house refugees displaced by the Russian invasion.
Information on donating can be found on the Jaycees' Facebook page and on their website.
