A group of Long Beach Pop Warner football coaches are asking the public to help out this season and give a little to help make sure every little baller who wants to play can.
Due to COVID-19 and the pandemic, the league wasn’t able to hold their annual fundrasier and without it some of the kids wouldn’t be able to join. So the league is turning to GoFundMe.
“When the epidemic came out we couldn’t do anything, the kids couldn’t even go outside,” Coach Jose Luis Silva told NBC Los Angeles.
Silva adds that several of the kids come from families where $375 for the registration fee is not in the budget - not to mention uniforms and equipment.
“Low-income parents -- a lot of single parents in my area, they’re losing their jobs. They’re barely getting enough money to pay car payment and rents,” he said.
So, to help those families in need, the non-profit Long Beach league is turning to a GoFundMe to try and raise $10,000 to make sure every child gets a chance to play.
