Man stabbed during dispute in Long Beach

LONG BEACH (CNS) - A man was stabbed when an argument with a suspect in Long Beach escalated into an assault, authorities said Sunday.

Officers were dispatched at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday to the 200 block of West Broadway regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

They located the victim, who was taken to a hospital by paramedics with a stab wound to the upper body that was not considered life-threatening.

"The preliminary investigation suggests the victim and a male adult suspect were engaged in a verbal dispute, which escalated when the suspect stabbed the victim," police said. "The suspect fled on foot prior to officers' arrival. The investigation is ongoing."
