The city of Manhattan Beach is asking people to steer clear of bike paths and the shoreline as massive waves continue to hit Southern California.

The pier is set to close at 8:00 PM Friday and will remain closed at least through Sunday, depending on the condition of the swells.

While things were slightly calmer early on Friday, some people were getting a look at the enormous waves.

KNX News' Nataly Tavidian spoke to some spectators on the pier. One woman shared what she saw, "We're seeing more beach erosion, and it looks like they're trying to limit access to the beach a little bit fewer people than in the summer; of course, it looks like people are being careful, though."

Lifeguards have been driving up and down the beach all day, warning would-be beachgoers of the dangerous conditions.

The NWS predicts 10-15ft, and even up to 20-foot swells along with dangerous rip currents along the SoCal coast.

The closures have not affected shops or restaurants in the area as of Friday evening. Still, there are reports of potential road flooding over the next few days, so tune in to KNX News for updates throughout the weekend.
