The chase began about 9:50 a.m. on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway near Carson Street, where California Highway Patrol officers tried to pull over the man on a speeding violation, according to the CHP.

He kept going, however, on freeways and surface streets, weaving around traffic as a CHP motorcycle officer followed, eventually ending up on Stadium Way in Elysian Park.

Law enforcement officers monitored the motorcyclist's progress via helicopter, and ground units followed him to a residential neighborhood, where he surrendered about 10:50 a.m. near Benton Way and Kent Street.

His name was not immediately released.
