PESCADERO, Calif. (KNX) – A mountain lion was contained inside a classroom at Pescadero High School on Tuesday.
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the wild animal was inside the classroom and that all students and staff members were safe.
The sheriff’s office said the mountain lion had entered the grounds of the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District and went into an English class. A quick-thinking janitor was credited for safely confining the animal.
Photos shared by NBC Bay Area reporter Stephanie Magallon show the big cat lying on the ground next to what appears to be a desk.
Wildlife officials removed the animal from the classroom.
