The parents of a missing Pitt student want officials in the Dominican Republic to declare their 20-year-old daughter dead.
Sudiksha Konanki's parents are making the request despite the fact authorities have yet to find her body.
In a letter, the family acknowledges foul play is not suspected in Konanki’s presumed death after she vanished from a Punta Cana beach.
The letter from Sudiksha's father and mother also notes Joshua Riibe, the last person to see their daughter alive, has cooperated with investigators.

The request for a legal declaration of death came on the same day Riibe's lawyer argued her client should be released because he is not a suspect or accused of wrongdoing.
Officials seized his passport on Saturday.
