If you believe what you see on TV shows, parents and kids enjoy a luxurious breakfast before school with plates piled high with pancakes, eggs, bacon, cereal, doughnuts and two types of juice.

In reality, everyone is scrambling to get out the door, granola bar in hand as a best case scenario, and no one wants to make a homemade lunch.

How do we know that?

Because a new survey from Juicy Juice revealed that 26% of parents say packing a lunchbox is their least favorite chore. Nearly one in three parents reported they would rather clean the bathroom than pack a child's lunch and nearly one in five would rather get a cavity filled.

Not only is it time consuming, the survey also revealed that nearly 3 in 4 (72%) parents say their child's lunches often come back from school uneaten.

Juicy Juice thinks it has a solution: Every Friday in October, starting October 6, parents are challenged to let their kid call the shots on what goes in their lunchbox, and post the results on social media. At the end of the month, one grand prize winner will receive a $10,000 grocery grant to go towards a year's supply of groceries, plus a supply of 100% juice.

Parents can enter the Lunch Challenge by uploading a photo, video or story of their child's lunch picks on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), tagging and following @JuicyJuiceUSA and using #JJFriYAYSweepstakes. "Parents are feeling the lunchbox fatigue at this point in the school year and seeking inspiration on what to pack that their kids will actually eat, so we're going straight to the source and asking the kids," said Ilene Bergenfeld, Chief Marketing Officer at Harvest Hill Beverage Company. "While this will surely yield some unconventional lunches, the ultimate goal is to take the pressure off parents and put some fun into an otherwise unfavored chore."
