Safewise.com came out with its list of the safest cities in California in 2022 on March 8 and listed Danville as the number one safest city in California, with Rancho Santa Margarita and Moorpark behind it.

Santa Monica, however, ranked 224 with 6.0 violent crimes per 1,000 people and 42.6 property crimes.

The list was compiled of 230 cities in the state, with Oakland taking the 230 spot.

Safewise said it focused on violent and property crimes when it came to creating its list and grabbed info from up-to-date FBI crime data.

Other cities that ranked low on the list include Los Angeles at 200, Beverly Hills at 204 and West Hollywood at 212.
