A dog survived a mountain lion attack in the La Verne neighborhood on Saturday night.
Footage obtained by KCAL News showed Holly, a 3-year-old giant Schnauzer, in the backyard being approached by a mountain lion. The mountain lion pounced the dog and the two tussled.
Holly’s owners saw what happened and screamed at the mountain lion, scaring the mountain lion off and allowing Holly to escape.
The mountain lion was seen returning to the area 20 minutes later.
A neighbor told the outlet the ordeal was “frightening.”
“It’s frightening because I have this tiny, little dog here,” she said. “She’s a little teacup Yorkie and obviously we don’t let her out, especially at night.”
Holly had to get stitches on her neck, but she’s recovering.
