A lockdown was lifted at two South Los Angeles schools after the Los Angeles School Police Department responded to reports of shots fired near Santee Education Complex Thursday afternoon.

A LASPD officer found one gunshot victim, a male student, lying on the ground in front of the school and near the football field. The student was shot in the leg, and, according to LASPD, the officer was able to stabilize the victim by providing first aid until L.A. City Fire Department arrived.

Another victim was found on the perimeter of Maple Primary Center at Maple Avenue and 36th Street, down the street from Santee High School. The adult male victim was suffering from a gunshot graze. Both victims were brought to the hospital for treatment.

The high school was placed on lockdown a little after 2 p.m. before authorities lifted it around 3 p.m.

The LASPD released details about the suspected gunman. He is a Hispanic male wearing dark blue clothes and green shoes. The suspect was seen with a light blue bike.

Footage from an unrelated fight near Santee high school caught the moment when shots could be heard at the campus.

The police said it is not clear which direction to suspect fled or if the two shootings are related.

This is a developing story. Check back for additional updates.
