Fishing can be an extremely relaxing and fulfilling hobby. That is, if it is done from the safety of a boat.

Once a fisherman goes into the water for a catch, things get a lot more interesting.

One spearfisher learned that the hard way recently, as he captured the terrifying moment he came face to face with a great white shark.

David Scherrer was spearfishing recently in North Carolina when he came across something he definitely wasn’t expecting.

According to his Instagram page, the experienced spearfisher was about 50 feet below the surface when a great white shark appeared. While the shark seemed curious about the people swimming in its home, it eventually swam away after coming within feet of Scherrer.

As seen in the clip, Scherrer is holding his spear gun, and later claimed if the shark had opened its mouth the trigger was getting pulled. Luckily, no one was harmed in the incident and the group left the area once the shark swam away, according to Bro Bible.

Maybe next time they will stick to fishing from a boat.
