PENSACOLA, Fla. (KNX) – A Thousand Oaks man was sentenced last week in Florida after officials said he called in threats to Representative Matt Gaetz.

In addition to home confinement, Huelsman will have five years probation and a $10,000 fine.

On Jan. 9, 2021, federal officials said Huelsman left a voicemail for Gaetz’s congressional district office in Pensacola, which included threats to Gaetz and his  family.

“Watch your back, I’m coming for you. I’m gonna put a bullet in you and I’m gonna put a bullet in one of your f**king kids too," Huelsman said according to court records.

The United States Capitol Police were contacted, and an investigation traced back to Huelsman. It was also revealed Huelsman had been investigation by the U.S. Secret Service for threats he made against a former President’s family member online.

"Words matter," said Sherri E. Onks, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Jacksonville Division, "and this sentencing should serve as a warning. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, but when you harass, intimidate, and threaten violence against others, it's a federal crime that will not be tolerated. The FBI and our law enforcement partners will work to hold you accountable."
