'Tricky' fire tamed in Vermont-Slauson neighborhood
LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Flames erupted on a power pole and spread to a shed and a house in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood of Los Angeles Saturday.
The fire was reported at 4:31 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of West 62nd Street, near the intersection of Gage and Vermont avenues, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department's Lyndsey Lantz.
Lantz described the fire as "tricky," and noted it was upgraded to a greater-alarm blaze. "Crews maintained an offensive posture against the flames, aggressively fighting fire and prioritizing the search for any victims," Lantz said
No injuries were reported and the flames were out at 5:12 p.m.
"Several companies remain on-scene to overhaul the affected buildings and salvage as much property as possible for residents," Lantz said.
