LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man was killed and another man was wounded during two separate shootings in Watts within a few blocks and 20 minutes apart from each other, authorities said Sunday.
The first shooting occurred at 8:58 p.m. Saturday in the alley behind the 10400 block of South Wilmington Avenue, LAPD Officer Drake Madison told City News Service.
A 34-year-old man was found in the alley unconscious and not breathing and paramedics rushed him to a hospital for treatment, Madison said. He later died from his injuries, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
At 9:20 p.m., another shooting was reported at 107th Street and Wilmington Avenue, police said. The victim of that shooting, described as a man about 60 years old, was attacked by two men aged approximately 18 or 19, at least one of whom was wielding a semiautomatic handgun, Madison said.
That victim was also taken to a hospital by paramedics in unknown condition, he said.
The shooting locations are just east of the Watts Towers.
