The mayor of Gostomel, a town about 20 miles outside of the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, was killed by Russian forces, according to authorities, per CBS News.
Yuri Illich Prylypko was shot while he was distributing bread and medicine to people in need of help. He was killed along with two others, according to the city's Facebook post.

"The head of Gostomel, Yuri Illich Prylypko, died while distributing bread to the hungry and medicine to the sick," the city said.
"No-one forced him to go under the occupiers' bullets," the post said. "He died for his people, for Gostomel. He died a hero."
Gostomel is where the Antonov military airport is located. Russian forces battled against Ukrainian troops in that area early on in the invasion.
The Ukrainian embassy in Turkey also tweeted about Prylypko's death:
"Hostomel Mayor Yuriy Prylypko was killed by Russian invaders while distributing bread and medicine to those in need and giving morale to the people... Heroes don't die. rest in."
