What to write in a Mother's Day card

Even if you do remember that Mother's Day is May 9 in 2021, you've still got to figure out how to share a happy, comforting, thankful, meaningful message in a Mother's Day card.

What you write in a Mother's Day card depends a lot on how you know the mom in question. There are different rules based on whether you are writing to your own mom, your grandmother, your partner/wife, a fellow mom, a mother-in-law, and all the other types of mothers out there.

Admiration and thanks are keys to making mom feel good on Mother's Day. Thank her for raising you, for teaching you, for giving you your best attributes. Tell her you're proud of her and admire her, and generally repent for all the teenage years when you weren't appreciative enough.

Mother's Day is the perfect time to evoke old memories with your grandmother: baking cookies, hanging out after school, spending holidays together, or however else you bonded with your grandmother. Ditto for great-grandmothers, great-aunts, etc.
