The victim, unnamed but described as being in her 30s, was conscious and breathing. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

"The person is blessed to survive something of this magnitude," said LAPD Sgt. Craig Orange.

Investigators believe she was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked, white, four-door vehicle when it was ambushed. It was not known if anyone was in the driver's seat at the time. The car was riddled with bullet holes.

Police said the culprit took off in a late model, four-door, white sedan with tinted windows. The car was last seen driving west on Martin Luther King Kr. Boulevard toward Normandie Avenue. It was not known if the victim knew her attacker.

At about 9:45 p.m., a man was seen placed in handcuffs by police. It was not immediately known if that arrest was made in connection to the shooting.

An investigation is ongoing.
