POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KMOX) - For the second time this year, a pair of thieves have stolen more than $500 worth of Little Debbie Snack Cakes from storage units in the small Missouri town of Poplar Bluff.
The detective following the case called it "nutter than a Nutty Buddy." The Poplar Bluff Police Department shared surveillance video of the most recent crime – hilariously to the tune of "The Twinkie Song" and it has since gone viral.

Detective Dan Mustain says one suspect is in custody, but they're still searching for the accomplice and trying to figure out why they're stealing the cakes.
The first heist happened in the early morning hours of New Years Day. Two suspects broke into a storage unit and load boxes of Little Debbies into a Lincoln MKZ sedan. They took 20 boxes total: eight cases of bagged donuts, three cases of Strawberry Shortcakes, two cases of Zebra Cake Rolls, three cases of Susie Q's, two cases of Unicorn Cakes, and two cases of Birthday cakes.

The next crime happened on May 22 at a different storage unit in Poplar Bluff. This time they walked away with an undisclosed number of boxes.
Mustain believes "they know exactly where they're going" in the planned attack. The snacks are being stored in those units by a local supplier for the Southeast Missouri town of about 17,000 people.
"I can't figure out if there's a black market on Little Debbies or what's going on," Mustain says. "I've got a few tips, but I'm thinking maybe they're either selling it to second-hand stores or yard sales. I'm not particularly sure exactly what they've been doing. It's a large amount, like over $500 worth."
He says no charges have been filed against the one suspect in custody.
His hope at the end of all this is to have a big drug-bust like police photo shoot with all the recovered boxes of Little Debbie snacks.
