So far, 2022 has been really tough for fans of comedy legends.
Having been a stand-up star, TV sitcom lead, host of game show favorite “Family Feud,” and a character actor in a number of films, Anderson not only enjoyed a long and successful career, but received critical acclaim on one of his last projects, the quirky comedy hit "Baskets."
From 2016 to 2019, Anderson played the mother of Zach Galifianakis’ character, Dale Baskets, on the series, garnering praise for his tender portrayal that, as Casey Wilson divulged in her book "The Wreckage of My Presence," was inspired by his own mother.
Among the many tributes that have flowed in for the funnyman, the one from “Baskets” co-star Galifianakis is one of the most touching.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, “The Hangover” actor stated about his friend, “his essence triggered child-like euphoria when he was around. He was caring and tender. And you learn that his tenderness was born out of pain. Makes you love him even more. I will miss him tremendously.”
Anderson was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award three times for “Baskets,” winning one in 2016. He also authored several books, including “Hey Mom: Stories for My Mother, But You Can Read Them Too.”
