Topgolf is on its way to Wichita. Likely headed for George Laham's property near 13th Street and Greenwich Road.

The Dallas-based Topgolf Entertainment Group announced Monday in a news release that it plans to open a location in Wichita, which would be the second venue in Kansas.

In the release, the company says Topgolf Wichita be an open-concept, single-floor design — unlike the traditional two stories at the Kansas City and Oklahoma City locations.

Wichita Business Journal says an agenda document for Thursday's Metropolitan Area Planning Commission meeting shows a concept map for a 24,000 square-foot Topgolf-type "entertainment complex" in Laham's development, with golfers hitting balls east toward Chapel Hill Street. Retail would occupy four parcels along 13th and two along Greenwich, with more parcels east of Chapel Hill.

Amy Liebau, Laham Development's chief operating officer, tells the WBJ the group has nothing to announce about its 25-acre property at 13th and Greenwich property, which it closed on in early January.

"We're looking to do restaurant and entertainment concepts that are like what we've done at Plazzio," Liebau said, noting that the development company wants to have "maximum flexibility."

In the news release, Topgolf says it the Wichita location will have all the signature games and climate-controlled hitting bays, along with yard games like bean bag toss and life-sized Jenga, seating areas with fire pits and picnic-style dining tables.

The company plans to hire 150 to 200 full- and part-time employees and expects to serve about 250,000 guests annually. There are 58 Topgolf locations worldwide.
