Polarizing MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer has long been one of the sport's leading polemicists.

Now the 29-year-old can call himself a Cy Young winner, after he received the prized pitching award on Wednesday.

However, one title Bauer can't appropriate for himself, according to social media, is that of style icon.

The UCLA product on Wednesday night donned a head-turning three-piece suit while appearing on MLB Network to receive his award, amazingly the first ever won by a Cincinnati Reds pitcher.

The unusual beige-colored get-up was replete with a pocket square and double-breasted vest, adorned with bright white buttons.

Bauer, now a free agent after his first season with the Reds, is angling for a big payday in free agency.

The jokesters on Twitter had some laughs at Bauer's expense over his odd threads, which, as one user suggested, was probably his intention -- although we can't rule out the very real possibility he simply has bad fashion sense.

The look inspired a wide range of interpretations.
