Former Kansas State men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang is heading back to Baylor University, returning to a program where he previously built much of his coaching reputation.

Tang, who served as an assistant at Baylor for nearly two decades, was a key figure in helping the Bears rise to national prominence, including their run to a national championship. After leaving to take over at Kansas State University, Tang led the Wildcats through multiple seasons. Tang was in his fourth season with K-State when he was fired, with the Wildcats holding a 10-15 record and 1-11 in the Big 12.

Now, Tang is set to rejoin Baylor’s staff, bringing with him years of head coaching experience and familiarity with the program’s culture and expectations. His return is expected to bolster the Bears as they continue to compete at a high level in one of college basketball’s toughest conferences.

The move marks a full-circle moment for Tang, who built strong ties in Waco and played a major role in shaping Baylor’s modern success.
