Slowly but surely, the Giants are getting healthy. Kenny Golladay, out since the early days of training camp with a pulled hamstring, returned to action Thursday, practicing in full pads. Teammates Saquon Barkley (ACL surgery), Evan Engram (calf), Kadarius Toney (undisclosed) and Kyle Rudolph (foot surgery) were also in attendance, putting all on track for next week’s opener against Denver. While the Giants should be at close to full strength for Week 1, Golladay, doing his best to temper expectations, cautioned that New York’s offense is far from a finished product.
“When I look in the huddle and see all those guys, I’m excited,” said Golladay, who joined New York as a free agent this offseason after spending his first four years in Detroit. “But guys have been in and out of the lineup. We might be a little slow to get off.”
Golladay is merely stating the obvious, of course, though it’s still a surprising level of transparency and probably not want Giants fans or starting quarterback Daniel Jones—who is entering a make-or-break season—want to hear.

When healthy, the 27-year-old has been a legitimate stud, eclipsing 1,000 yards in two of his first three seasons with the Lions before an injury-plagued 2020. The Giants arguably haven’t had a receiver of Golladay’s Pro-Bowl caliber since Odell Beckham’s departure in 2019, though after missing the majority of training camp with a bum hamstring, it’s anyone guess what version of him we’ll see when the Broncos invade the Meadowlands a week from Sunday. The same could be said of Barkley, who may not be ready for a full workload after being brought along slowly this summer.
