Ohio State reclaimed the #1 ranking in the first Associated Press Top 25 college football poll of the 2025 regular season, following a solid Week 1 win over preseason top-ranked Texas, earning 55 first-place votes. Penn State held strong at #2, while LSU surged six spots to #3 after a dramatic victory at Clemson. Georgia and Miami completed the top five, both making early statements with decisive wins.
Texas tumbled from its preseason perch but remains in the top ten at #7, while Oregon, Clemson, Notre Dame, and South Carolina follow closely behind. Florida State made an impressive entrance at #14 after upsetting Alabama — which plummeted to its lowest ranking since 2008 at No. 21. Utah also debuted in the rankings at #25 with a convincing win over UCLA.
