The Wichita State Men's Basketball team were in Louisiana on Super Bowl Sunday for a matchup with Tulane. The Shockers do well historically when playing the day of the Super Bowl with a all time record of 5-2 on the day.
Tulane got the better start, but the Shockers quickly began dominating on the glass and pressuring shots on defense. The Shocker defense would hold Tulane to 35.8% from the field. And that would lead to the Shockers taking a 31-26 lead into the locker room at halftime. And the Shocker domination continued in the 2nd half. By the time the buzzer sounded to end the game WSU had outrebounded the Green Wave 45-31. And the Shockers walked away with the 75-61 win, improving to 15-9, 7-4 in the AAC.
Dillon Battie had a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting and a career-high tying nine rebounds. He also added three steals. Karon Boyd tallied his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. He was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
The one low point that Head Coach Paul Mills acknowledged in a post game interview was free throws. Wichita State converted just 10-of-19 attempts from the line. The Shockers' next matchup is Wednesday night at Koch Arena against USF.
