For Kayvon Thibodeaux, Korean barbecue might have helped pave the way for him to become a New York Giant.
Thibodeaux went to the Giants at pick No. 5 in the NFL Draft on Thursday. An exciting, disruptive edge rusher, Thibodeaux at one point was considered the top player in the draft. But in his eyes, everything went according to plan.

He shared on the “Around the NFL” podcast how he ultimately landed in New York.
“You know what happened? I didn’t tell anybody, but I was manifesting New York," Thibodeaux said. "I took all the staff to Korean barbecue, I brought them, I had them doing all you can eat. I buttered them up. We really got to break bread and they really got to see that I’m hungry – literally.
“You know the GM, Joe (Schoen)? He FaceTimed me right before I got on the plane to come out here (to Las Vegas). He didn’t think I was going to answer. He said ‘Oh, wow, you answered?’ I said ‘What do you mean, coach, why would I not answer you?’ But I had a feeling. … For me, it’s about building trust and it’s about family. So, I’m coming into their family and you’ve got to do what it takes to find that trust and find that love for those guys.”
The NFC East is wide open, and the Giants are hoping that the addition of the Oregon product will only help their chances of becoming a legitimate threat in the NFC.
If that indeed comes to pass, they’ll have Thibodeaux’s manifesting to thank.
