A career-high performance from Shocker Kenyon Giles propelled Wichita State to a 78-67 win over North Texas on Sunday afternoon at Koch Arena. Giles with 13 of 17 with four 3-pointers. Dillon Battie chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds while Karon Boyd added 9 points, six rebounds, two steals, and 2 blocks.
WSU had a comfortable lead for much of the game, but North Texas did get it down to single digits late in the game. But WSU went 72% from the free throw line and hit enough of those late to hold on for the win. Wichita State improves to 10-7, and evened things up in conference play at 2-2. The Shockers were without starting wing TJ Williams who missed the game with a concussion.
Next up for WSU, a two-game Florida road trip starting Thursday, Jan. 15 at Florida Atlantic.
