INXS guitarist Tim Farriss says he may never play his guitar properly again after severing his ring finger on his left hand in a boating accident. Farriss almost lost the finger in an accident with a powered anchor winch while boating on Sydney’s northern beaches on Australia Day. He undergoes two operations, including a six-hour operation to reattach his finger.

February 5, 1998 – Tim Kelly dies in a car accident in Arizona. He was 35. Kelly was the guitarist in Slaughter and was featured on six albums. His car was hit head-on when an 18 wheeler truck crossed the middle line. The driver was under the influence of drugs and sentenced to three years in prison.
