A Yakima man was startled on Saturday after a soda can exploded in his fridge. So as any man would do, he shot at the fridge thinking someone was inside of it.
According to Komo News, The man later told police in an interview that the people who live in the basement wanted to kill him and that they had shot at him, so he fired in self defense.
Police say the sound of the soda can popping is what the man thought was a gunshot.
Investigators also say there is no one that lives in the basement below the man, and that, in fact, there is no basement at all.
