Arriving on November 11 via Weldon Owen Publishing and Simon & Schuster, ‘This Angry Pen: The Lost Journals of Layne Staley’ will allow Alice In Chains fans to fully immerse themselves in Staley's innermost thoughts and emotions. Through his until now unpublished artwork, lyrics, and personal notes. we'll see how Layne's creativity extended beyond music into poetry, drawing, jewelry making, and crafts -- reflecting a truly unique perspective on the world.
Layne Staley, who sang on the legendary band's first three studio albums -- 1990's Facelift, 1992's Dirt, and 1995's Alice in Chains -- passed at the age of 34 on April 5, 2002 from a drug overdose.
Though the cover art is yet to be revealed, an official description from Simon & Schuster reads: "Through Layne’s scribblings and heartfelt musings are a window into the emotional depths of a man who gave so much of himself to his art and his fans, even as he struggled with his own battles. For fans new and old, this is an opportunity to connect with Layne’s artistry and humanity in a way that’s never been possible before. His story, told through his own words, creations, and the lives he forever changed, is a testament to the enduring power of music, art, and the human spirit.”
