We are back with another adventure! It's going to be a gorgeous week here in Oregon. What better way to celebrate than an adventure to the coast? We don't get too many warm, sunny days at the beach and when you can take advantage of it, you should. This past weekend my boyfriend Andrew and I and our 2 pups headed out to Pacific City, Oregon for a weekend getaway for our anniversary. Not only was it a gorgeous weekend, but the views and accessibility Pacific City has to offer is unbeatable. This short two hour drive was worth the views, food and serenity.
We stayed in a small motel only a few short minutes from the beach. Be aware that air bnb's are pretty hard to find unless you are able to stay in a very expensive vacation home! The Pacific City Inn was small, clean and dog friendly for our two huskies. During our stay we enjoyed drinks and some bar food at a local spot called Backwoods Bar and Grill. Not only does it have a great local feel to it, the facility also turns into a bakery in the morning called MegPies! We were very impressed by the homemade donuts, breakfast and goodies they had to offer as well as the smiles and hospitality. It gives a very small town feel while also giving great customer service. They have only been open for 9 weeks and they are exceeding!
Our second outing was the Pelican Brewery, which is very well known here in Oregon for great beers and food. This was more of your simple menu with plenty of beer and drink options. The homemade clam chowder was a huge favorite of ours as well as the flatbread pizzas. We got a little lucky and received a table with a gorgeous view of the ocean. When it's warm outside there are options to sit in their gated area where you can put your feet in the sand and enjoy a beer! Everything was very COVID-19 friendly and safe.
During our stay we spent most of our time driving on the beach with our pups and adventuring near Sand Lake. Andrew had a blast with our truck doing cookies and drifts along the beach. This is the only beach I have personally ever been to where you can physically drive on the beach, and it was amazing! You can drive a few miles each way with plenty of room for multiple people to have their own space. This is a great beach to pack some pillows, blankets, a snack and watch the sunset from your tailgate or trunk. Pacific City is well known for the Cape Kiwanda lookout where you can see gorgeous views of the ocean and trees. Make sure you bring a windbreaker and a camera wherever you go. We can't wait to go back and explore more of Pacific City!
