Simone Biles is making sure she’s taking care of the physical and mental sides of her return to competitive gymnastics.
The Olympic gold medal winner has confirmed she will compete this August in the 2023 U.S. Classic gymnastics event.
According to PEOPLE, she recently answered fan questions via Instagram Stories, where she broke down how she’d be “handling the mental side” of her comeback.
“Lots of therapy, I go once a week for almost 2 hrs,” Biles answered. “I’ve had so much trauma, so being able to work on some of the traumas and work on healing is a blessing.”
Throughout the Q&A Biles also revealed how she got into gymnastics, saying it was during a “daycare field trip.”
“I instantly fell in love and have done it ever since,” Biles said.
Biles’ return was announced by USA Gymnastics in June in a statement claiming she would be competing against fellow Olympic gold medalist Sunisa Lee and Olympic floor champion Jade Carey in August’s U.S. Classic.
